You’re Not Broken

If things feel like too much right now, there’s a good chance you’re not failing — you’re exhausted.

Many thoughtful, creative, sensitive minds end up feeling this way. Not because they’re weak, but because they carry a lot: ideas, emotions, responsibilities, expectations, and self‑pressure.

When your mind won’t switch off and even small things feel heavy, it’s easy to assume something is wrong with you.

But most of the time, what you’re experiencing isn’t a flaw.

It’s overload.

You don’t need to fix yourself. You don’t need to push harder. You don’t need to “cope better.”

You need gentleness.

Overload Isn’t a Personal Failure

If you tend to overthink, imagine deeply, or care a lot, your mind and body work hard — even when you’re resting.

Modern life doesn’t leave much space for that kind of mind.

So when you feel worn down, foggy, flat, or overwhelmed, it makes sense.

You’re not broken. Your system is asking for relief, not judgement.

A Gentle Reset (5 minutes or less)

This isn’t something you have to do. If today isn’t the day, that’s okay.

If you’d like to try, take this slowly.

  1. Pause
If it feels comfortable, place a hand on your chest or stomach. If not, simply sit or stand where you are.
  2. Name
Quietly or out loud, finish this sentence:
    “Right now, I feel __.”
    There’s no right answer.
  3. Soften
    Take one slow breath in.
    Let it out gently.
    Nothing to control or fix.
  4. Lower the bar
    Ask yourself:
“What would help a little, not a lot?”

This might be:

  • stepping away for a moment
  • drinking some water
  • doing nothing at all

Any answer is valid.
